THE WHITE-HAIRED WITCH OF LUNAR KINGDOM Rebrands A Classic With A Legendary Voice

It was in 1993 that actor and singer Leslie Cheung‘s multifaceted career saw him leading the cast with actress Bridgette Lin in director Ronny Yu’s 1993 period fantasy action epic, The Bride With White Hair, followed by a sequel directed by David Wu. The first film ultimately led to an award for Best Original Song at the 30th Annual Golden Horse Awards for Cheung‘s performance of the film’s theme song, “Red Cheeks, White Hair”, ten years before the beloved actor committed suicide on April 1, 2003.

This year, fans of the classic film and Asian cinema, collectively, will get to witness a cinematic reimagining of the classic tale in the forthcoming release of director Jacob Cheng‘s The White Haired Witch Of Lunar Kingdom, with actor Huang Xiaoming inheriting the classic role alongside lead title actress Fan Bing Bing. The film has already undergone extended post-production work and a heavy promotional campaign, and with the official theatrical date of August 1 just around the corner, the new film has its official music video now available online courtesy of Distribution Workshop with Cheung‘s award-winning hit song attached. And in light of the new film, there couldn’t be a more fitting tribute.
