TIME TO HUNT: Netflix To Produce English-Language Remake For ‘iBoy’ And ‘Night Teeth’ Director

Netflix will reteam with iBoy and Night Teeth helmer Adam Randall for an English-language revamp of director Yoon Sung-hyun’s dystopian action crime thriller, Time To Hunt. The report comes from Deadline’s Andreas Wiseman who also notes that the streamer has appealed to a 150-page document by Randall as the company searches for a writer.

Randall, also known for 2019 horror I See You, told us: “I watched the movie early in lockdown and thought it was a really strong concept. It’s half heist, half chase movie, set in a near dystopia, so it combines three of my favourite cinematic genres. The version I’m working on is set in the U.S. with a different story but similar structure. From what I understand, this is the first time Netflix has optioned one of its own foreign-language movies. The option process was a little complicated but is now done.”

Released on Netflix following a bitter dispute with Little Big Pictures regarding theatrical release plans amid the global pandemic, Time To Hunt centers on a quartet of friends dreaming of a better life, who find themselves way in over their heads when the underground casino they rob decides to retaliate by sending a bent cop moonlighting as an expert hitman. The film starred Lee Je-hoon (Collectors), Ahn Jae-hong (Secret Zoo), Choi Woo-shik (Parasite), Park Jung-min (Deliver Us From Evil) and Park Hae-soo (Squid Game, By Quantum Physics: A Nightlife Venture), from a script also by Yoon.
