Jason Axinn’s 2-D hand drawn animated horror, To Your Last Death, recently capped off its festival run earlier this month after scoring three more nominations: Best Horror Feature and the prestigious What the F**k is This Movie Even (Film Threat), as well as the Golden Reel for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Non-Theatrical Animation Long Form (MPSE).
Among those nominated were Emmy-winning Supervising Sound Designer Michael Archacki, as well as Sound Designer Matthew Schaff (MPSE), and I reviewed the film last year, effectively joining the choir singing its praises, so I think it’s more than worthy reporting on even now. The film, VO-starring Dani Lennon, Ray Wise and Morena Baccarin and released on VoD and Digital through Quiver, has since nabbed 34 wins at multiple festivals to its credit, which makes me curious about what Axinn is up to these days, so you better believe I’ll post something when the time comes.
In the meantime, I missed this announcement earlier this month, but the film is currently available for free for subscribers to Amazon Prime. It’s a splendid spectacle of character-driven action and horror thrills, and it’ll be a great entry into Axinn’s work for those newly discovering him for themselves.
