TOM YUM GOONG 2 Gets Distribution

If you work in the film industry, whether its producing, acting, film making or writing, then the Cannes Film Festival is where you want to be to promote your upcoming and developing work. Take it from the people over at Sahamongkolfilm who just sold distribution rights to several companies, including North American rights for Magnolia Pictures, according to a new report from ScreenDaily.

The news comes long after an otherwise epic production that left a lot of people wondering about the fate of the film itself. Some details about filming were finally confirmed in a recent interview between filmmaker Prachya Pinkaew and Impact Online’s own Mike Leeder.

The film will mark the first-ever use of CGI and wirework for Thai action star Tony Jaa, whose contract with Sahamongkolfilm is likely finished, leaving him time to expand his career a little further with upcoming projects like A Man Will Rise.

The film will see Jaa reprising his role from the first film as Kham, and Petchtai Wongkamlao returning as Sergeant Mark, with Prachya Pinkaew returning as producer and director. It will also star Thai action stars Dan Chupong, Kazu Patrick Tang and Jija Yanin. The Man With The Iron Fists star, writer and director, RZA, is also joining the cast with his TMWTIF stunt double Marrese Crump, who also choreographed the action sequences with Jaa, co-star Vince Makilingwith and Panna Rittikrai.

Currently, Sahamongkol are still shopping for buyers from the U.K. and Canada through thw weekend. Tom Yum Goong 2 is still in post production and is slated for release in Thailand this October.
