TONY ODYSSEY Teaser: Thales Banzai’s Slamdance Pick Takes You On A Brazilian Head Trip

The 32nd edition of the Slamdance Film Festival is set to kick off later this month, giving way to the premiere of Thales Banzai’s new surreal adventure, Tony Odyssey. The film marks Banzai’s feature debut, and with a concept billed as an ode to “more provocative Brazilian films of the ’60s and ’70s”.

The teaser making the rounds online dishes out a little medley of what that entails – a Brazil/US co-production with a cast led by Kelson Succi, Iraci Estrela, and Sandro Guerra. Banzai also wrote the pic and serves as one of the producers next to Camila Cornelsen, and Mario Peixoto, with Marcela Sutter, Estevão Meneguzzo, and Laura Barzotto exec producing.

After robbing the bar where he works, Tony and his best friend Ivy steal a hallucinogenic drug that sends them on a surreal Brazilian odyssey—where crime, faith, and illusion collide in a search for God.

Tony Odyssey screens for Slamdance on Monday, February 23 at 8:00pm at the Summer Chastant and David Pierce Theater – DGA Theater 2. Catch the teaser below!
