TRIGUN STAMPEDE Receives First Trailer at Anime Expo

If you were an anime fan in the early to mid-2000s, you’re familiar with Trigun. A staple of Adult Swim/Toonami, Trigun originally was a manga serialized in Monthly Shonen Captain from 1995 to 1997, followed by the 1997-2007 run of Trigun Maximum in Young King OURs magazine. A post-apocolyptic space western, Trigun follows a wanted gunman named Vash the Stampede, as he fights off bounty hunters and attempts to solve mysteries lingering in his past.  Now, a new adaption headed by animation studio Orange is on the way, and at Anime Expo, we received our first and very exciting look at the new 3DCG animation and updated style of the classic series.

Vash the Stampede is a wanted gunslinger with a habit of turning entire towns into rubble. His path of destruction reaches across the wastelands of a desert planet. Oddly enough, for such an infamous outlaw, there’s no proof he’s ever taken a life. In fact, he’s a pacifist who’s more doofus than desperado. There’s definitely a whole lot more to Vash than his reputation lets on.

-Official Crunchyroll Synopsis of Trigun (1998)

Trigun is an old favorite of mine, and I have a great story about watching a friend fake arrest his English voice actor at a convention and try to turn him in to security for Vash’s bounty, but that’s another article. For now, do yourself a favor, and treat yourself to the stylish, weird and exciting world of Trigun, streaming now on Crunchyroll, and watch the trailer below. Does anyone else get Guilty Gear Strive vibes from the 3DCG?
