Watch The High-Octane Trailer For China/German Action Thriller, OUT OF CONTROL – THE PHANTOM DRIVE

Director Park Hong-soo’s 2013 espionage thriller, Committment, landed actor and singer T.O.P. on the radar for some of us in the action genre. If you enjoyed that one, then you might be pleased with what’s in store from directing duo Axel Sand and Richard Lin, and screenwriter Andreas Heckmann with leading lady Cecilia Cheung, and The Vampire Diaries co-star Michael Trevino also starring.

For this, we get the latest promotional footage for the new German-Chinese co-produced thriller, Out Of Control – The Phantom Drive. Following its announcement in the press a few months ago and subsequent wrap last month, the film is financed and produced by China’s Dreams Of Dragons Pictures along with Action Concept, which happens to be one of Germany’s top action and production companies.
SYNOPSIS:

OUT OF CONTROL follows actress and martial-arts guru Lucy Lin (Cheung) as her visit to a film festival in Berlin is marred by the unwanted appearance of her ex-fiance, Interpol agent Tom Young (T.O.P.). Young is hot on the trail of renowned cyber-criminal Bennet Kayser (Trevino), who’s planning a deadly attack on the day of Lin’s premiere. As Kayser unleashes a virus that allows him complete control over the fleet of stretch-limousines heading to the red carpet, Lucy finds herself at the villain’s mercy – her hopes of survival pinned on the man who left her at the altar all those years ago.

If you’ve seen shows like Lasko and Alarm For Cobra 11 or films like Rush, then you might realize the brevity a bit in terms of just how spectacular this film may very well be when it releases later this year. German action cinema has become pretty prolific in the past decade, and a Chinese co-production like this with what looks like a solid cast should prove to be an impressive feat when it hits screens.

The film is being slated for a China release soon while further dates in other territories remain pending. Watch the first trailer and BTS promo below and the press conference just beneath, and cross your fingers and hope this title circulates accordingly so we can all see this title soon enough.
