Watch The New Trailer For I, FRANKEINSTEIN

After poking around in the action genre in recent hits with Battle: Los Angeles and Erased, actor Aaron Eckhart is back in the frey with I, Frankenstein. The film was co-written and directed by Stuart Beattie, based on the work of graphic novelist and co-star Kevin Grevioux who explained a little bit of the conceptual writing process with Bloody Disgusting’s Evan Dickson, saying “I actually wrote the screenplay first and extrapolated that out to a graphic novel to build the IP. After you write a screenplay you think of a lot of things that you want to put in. There’s really too much material. You build this whole universe. It’s like what I did with ‘Underworld’, finding monsters of lore and finding a way to bring them into a modern context.”

According to Eckhart‘s trainer, Ron Balicki, the actor became very proficient in the Filipino martial art of Kali in the three months he spent with Ron and his wife, fellow martial artist, stuntwoman and trainer Diana Lee Inosanto, prior to beginning a ten-week shooting schedule in Melbourne, Australia in February of 2013. The film’s release was pushed back three times before its date was finally slated for January 24, 2013, with further updates announcing the film’s conversion to 3D, followed by a press release from IMAX corporation.
