Watch Two Clips From HOMEFRONT!

Actor Jason Statham made headlines on Tuesday in a published interview at Vanity Fair to promote his upcoming film, Homefront. Having been a seasoned actor stunt performer and screenfighter for well over a decade, Statham ardently expressed support for the stunt community in favor of an Oscar category for industry stuntmen and women, claiming it as an “injustice” to ignore them when awarding actors who don’t genuinely do their own stunts.

“I think it is an overlooked category,” Statham told us, especially considering “how much responsibility these coordinators have for some of the greatest entertainment in action movies. I mean, all of the stunt men—these are the unsung heroes. They really are. Nobody is giving them any credibility. They’re risking their necks. And then you’ve got poncy actors pretending like they’re doing [the stunts].”

Without question, Statham probably extends that same support for the stuntmen bearing the brunt of the falls for James Franco‘s lead villain character in the new clip below for the upcoming November 27, 2013 holiday release of the Gary Fleder-directed action thriller from Open Road Films. Among other projects, Statham is also set to star in the August 2014 release of The Expendables 3 and will replace Daniel Craig in the upcoming sequel to the 2004 crime flick, Layer Cake, titled Viva La Madness. SYNOPSIS:

HOMEFRONT stars Jason Statham as former drug enforcement agent, Phil Broker, a family man who moves off the grid with his daughter, to a seemingly quiet bayou backwater to escape his troubled past. However, Broker’s world soon becomes anything but quiet once he discovers that an underbelly of drugs and violence riddles the small town. Soon, a sociopathic methamphetamine kingpin, Gator Bodine (James Franco) puts Broker and his daughter in harm’s way forcing Broker back into action in order to save his family and the town.

With the screenplay written by Sylvester Stallone, who first established worldwide recognition as a writer when his screenplay Rocky, won the Academy Award® in 1976 for Best Picture, Homefront is based on the book by Chuck Logan. The action-thriller is directed by Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury, Kiss the Girls) and produced by Stallone alongside Kevin King Templeton and John Thompson, with Trevor Short and Avi Lerner executive producing through Millennium Films. Kate Bosworth, Winona Ryder, Frank Grillo and Izabela Vidovic also star.
