Well Go USA is on a roll this week in Berlin seeing what’s what in global cinema. For now, two more of their latest announcements are heading to physical media with New World and The Tiger helmer Park Hoon-jung’s suspenseful supernationl actioner, The Witch: Subversion, and Andrew Lau’s harrowing in-flight ripped-from-the-headlines survival adventure, The Captain.
Award-winning actress Kim Da-mi stars in The Witch: Subversion, playing title role of a young girl ten years since having escaped a secure facility, who now in her budding teens suddenly finds her life in turmoil when mysterious people begin turning up. Actor Choi Woo-shik (Parasite, Train To Busan) also stars for the film’s forthcoming Digital, Blu-Ray and DVD release on March 10.
On March 31, the Planos, Texas firm will also take off on Digital, Blu-Ray and DVD with The Captain, which took home ample accolades for actrees Quan Yuan (Actress of the Year – China Film Critics Association, Favorite Actress – Golden Carp Film Award), as well as title star Hanyu Zhang (Outstanding Actor – Macau International Movie Festival) among other high marks.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Andrew Lau (Kung Fu Monster), the film propels audiences into an energizing story of the steadfast and resillent captain of Airbus flight A319 who, in May of 2018, battles the elements to fly his panicked passengers to safety when the cockpit windshield shatters, injuring his co-pilot. The film also stars Hao Ou (Legend of the Demon Cat) and Jiang Du (Chasing the Dragon II: Wild Wild Bunch), and I couldn’t be prouder to have my review quoted for a second time on their artwork by this fine company.
