WILD LEAGUE: Action Legend Art Camacho Makes History With The First Official Trailer

With a resume that includes decades of fanfare with stars like Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Ted Jan Roberts, Gary Daniels and Olivier Gruner, you’d be forgiven for doing a double take with martial arts star and filmmaker Art Camacho’s latest pivot into foreign-language period sports dramas, namely the new movie Wild League which is now rolling out its first trailer online to the masses.

It’s got a prominently Russian cast with only a pair of English-speaking actors, including Highlander franchise star Adrian Paul who previously worked on producer Alexander Nevsky‘s 2014 crime thriller, Black Rose. He joins fellow American actor William Shockley, along with Russian leads Olyesy Sudzilovskaya, Ivan Okholobystin, Dmitriy Nazarov, Evgeniy Koryakovskiy, Vladmir Yaglych and Adelina Gizatullina.

Wild League is a story based on the real-life events of the 1910’s Russian soccer team and a man destined to prove, even as a pauper and against all odds, he was good enough to play in an aristocrat’s sport. A barge-hauler from Volga, he and his beloved would struggle after being ostracized from his family as the world around them was changing. He went from using his brawn in common fights to using his talents in the new sanctioned sport of soccer. He rose from the tough streets of Moscow and became a leader and changing his life and the lives of those around him.

Blue Hemisphere Pictures, LLC proudly announced the film’s forthcoming release which effectively puts Art Camacho on the map for becoming the first Hispanic Director to direct a Russian Language feature drama. Nevsky, who has been making moves in North America of late via his Hollywood Storm banner is joined by producers Igor Dobrovolsky, Yulia Perkul and Eric Brenner

“The (Wild League) script read like an epic love story in an era of Honor, idealism and unyielding determination.” said Camacho in a statement. “Within minutes of reading the first few pages I found myself no longer siting in my office in Los Angeles but transported to Russia at the turn of the Century. As I read on I realized that this was a story that needed to be told and it needed to be told with the same fierce compassion and determination the characters themselves possessed.”

Camacho Wild League which is co-directed by Andrey Bogatyrev, and is set to screen at the fifth Asian World film Festival at Culver City in Los Angeles, California in November, and will have a Russia national release on October 24, 2019.
