WONDER WOMAN Gets Patty Jenkins To Direct!

It’s been two days since veteran television showrunner Michelle MacLaren reportedly left Warner Bros. long-awaited production of its forthcoming DCCU property, Wonder Woman, following her attachment to the film back in November last year. Alas, it was probably good that the studio stayed awake and in case things didn’t work out right away, and luckily, troubleshooting this one issue wasn’t so difficult.

Word from THR states that Patty Jenkins has been tapped to replace McLaren who departed the film citing “creative differences”. Jenkins is best known for her work on her multi-award-winning 2003 debut crime pic, Monster, and was once tappd to direct the 2013 release of Thor: The Dark World herself before Terminator Genisys helmer Alan Taylor took the chair. The film is eyeing a June 23, 2017 release with actress Gal Gadot leading this, one of several appearances throughout Warner Bros. brewing DC Comics-based cinematic universe, including next year’s Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

The news also comes as it appears rumors are now circulating that Marvel may be circling actress Angelina Jolie to direct the Carol Danvers-led version of Captan Marvel. That’s another story, of course, and indeed, it IS a week for superhero movie hype if there ever was, especially with five-seconds out of tomorrow being the most important five-seconds of your life if you’re a DC fan.
