Subscribers to Indonesian streamer Vidio now have something to look forward to in the action-horror arena when Zona Merah: Dead City comes to theaters in the new year. The feature film successor to the hit streaming drama that launched in 2024 now has a first official teaser as of Friday ahead of the film’s January 14 release from Screenplay Films.
A virus that turns people into the undead has breached the quarantine facility for the residents of Rimbalaya—a site guarded by the military. With defenses shattered and chaos spreading, there is nowhere left to hide from the living dead!
Maya (Aghniny Haque), Risang (Andri Mashadi), Ella (Maria Theodore), Adi (Devano Danendra), and Olivia (Myesha Lin) flee for their lives. Along the way, they are joined by Hana (Shindy Huang), a virologist, and Omar (Brian Domani)—a mysterious, armed man whose origins remain unknown.
The “Red Zone” continues to expand. Could those in power—Zaenal (Lukman Sardi) and Jenny (Luna Maya)—be behind this catastrophe?
The cast also lists Derby Romero who rejoins Tata’s latest following martial arts actioner Ikatan Darah, and upcoming Netflix survival thriller Serangan Balik which is also headlined by the aforementioned Sardi.
