Currently I’m eyeing what lies ahead for Jimmy Henderson’s next outing, The Prey, now making festival rounds and much to critical approval. And not for nothing either for its designated fight choreographer Jean-Paul Ly whose own progress is setting sail in fine fashion after successes on award-winning thriller, Jailbreak, and upcoming Ascendant Releasing prospect, Nightshooters this December.

For this, we turn to Ascendant Films’ own Bart Ruspoli whose own coming solo helmer, 14 Fists, has Ly in its crosshairs for production start forthwith following its announcement earlier this year at MCM London Comic Con. The film is now gearing up with the casting of BAFTA-nominated actor John Hannah (Spartacus), and actress Bai Ling (Maximum Impact), joining Ly from a script by Ruspoli centered on “a Chinese family living on a British council estate who are terrorised by a local gang until they take in a mysterious drifter”.

The film reunites Hannah with Ruspoli and Hutton-Mills who directed this year’s sci-fi release, Genesis. Screendaily‘s Ben Dalton confirmed the news and plot details in his exclusive on Thursday with word that Ascendant Films’ co-founder Hutton-Mills will produce with financing through Ascendant Releasing.

“We’re extremely excited to continue our collaboration with Jean-Paul Ly, whose star is on a meteoric rise.” says Ruspoli. “And by bringing together acclaimed actors like John Hannah and Bai Ling with world class action talent, we’re aiming to create something very unique in the UK film industry.”
