ABANG: Areel Abu Bakar’s ‘Geran’ Prequel Squares Up In The Official Teaser Trailer
Director Areel Abu Bakar is making headway once again with a teaser trailer now available for Abang. The action thriller comes billed as a prequel to Bakar’s 2020 flick, Geran (a.k.a. Silat Warriors: Deed Of Death), for which Bakar which took home the Daniel A. Craft Award For Excellence in Action Cinema after screening for the 19th New York Asian Film Festival.
ABANG, a prequel to the film Geran. Love, betrayal, loyalty will be tested as we… find our way home. An action film that tries to elevate our cultural heritage.
The teaser is all there is to go by as the campaign finally kicks off. That, and the fact that Beto Kusyairy stars in the lead role after bowing this year with Faisal Ishak’s martial arts biopic, Gayong, back in May. Kusyairy is a force to be reckoned with on screen, a fact underscored by his performance in 2022’s Mat Kilau and I can’t wait to see what Bakar has accomplished with him and the rest of the cast.
