AFM 2014: Marko Zaror's REDEEMER Gets A 2015 U.S. Release!

Seeing authentic, awesome martial arts action on the big screen is a dream as many of these kinds of films lately end up on the small screen. Very few make it to larger venues though, many of them which happen to be small-scale theatrical releases in some capacity. Granted, it’s a start, and can prove to be as memorable and exciting an experience when you’re in a room with the right crowd.

That said, if you’re a Marko Zaror fan, then gear up with as many like-minded individuals as possible, because the Chilean martial arts action star is coming to North America with the release of his newest revenge flick, Redeemer. Yahoo reports via The Wrap that MPI Media Group has attained all U.S. distribution rights to the film for a summer 2015 release via its genre subsidiary, Dark Sky Films. Filmmaker Ernesto Diaz Espinoza reunites with Zaror to direct the film about a monastic former hitman-turned-vigilante who makes a suicidal deal with God in order to face his demons while being hunted by his past. I had the pleasure of reviewing this fine gem last month after it received plenty of love after its Fantastic Fest premiere, and needless to say, it’s worth every bit of praise it receives.
Zaror is still a busy man though, with plenty more movies on the way, including a project related to Colombian superhero actioner, Zambo Dende, and Kimo Stamboel’s One Good Thing. In the meantime, other territories can expect acquisition for the film upon its current sales at the American Film Market this month.
Stay tuned for more info, and a pending trailer to come real soon after this report!
