ANXIOUS PEOPLE: Crime Romp Debuts First Look As Cameras Roll In London
Principal photography commenced this week in London for Anxious People, the new crime comedy from director Marc Forster (All I See Is You, A Man Called Otto). Production hails from Black Bear, Hope Studios, 2DUX2, and World Wide Word, and stars Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie alongside BAFTA-winner Aimee Lou Wood, and three-time Emmy nominee Jason Segel.
Anxious People takes its cues from Fredrik Backman’s New York Times Bestseller which serves as the basis for Academy Award-nominated screenwriter David Magee’s screenplay; The film marks a reunion for Forster and Magee who last collaborated on Forster’s Tom Hanks-led hit, A Man Called Otto, which is additionally based on Backman’s literary works.
In Anxious People, the day before Christmas Eve, investment banker Zara begrudgingly finds herself mingling with a group of strangers at an open house. When a reluctant bank robber, Grace, inadvertently takes the group hostage, chaos and oversharing ensues, secrets are revealed, and literally nothing goes according to plan. It is a poignant, charming film about a crime that never took place, a would-be bank robber who disappears into thin air, and eight extremely anxious strangers who find they have more in common than they ever imagined. Through an ingeniously constructed story, Anxious People explores the enduring power of friendship, forgiveness, and hope—the things that save us, even in the most anxious times.
Anxious People is produced by Fredrik Wikström Nicastro of Hope Studios and Renée Wolfe of 2DUX2, with Forster and Magee and Neda Backman exec producing. World Wide Word, the newly formed financing entity of 2DUX2, and Black Bear provided financing for the film. Black Bear is handling the international sales of the movie, and WME Independent is repping domestically.
