Ariel Vroman Tapped To Helm RAMBO: NEW BLOOD Reboot Vehicle For Nu Image/Millenium Films

Action star and actor Sylvester Stallone made it pretty clear at the top of 2016 that he was cinematically done with anything and everything Rambo-related. That news came following a updates in December of last year that the action movie legend would have nothing to do with the forthcoming TV series at Fox.

Even so, none of this is stopping the folks at NuImage/Millenium from advancing their efforts to keep the character alive, and they’re officially at work developing a younger iteration of the character. According to THR, Rambo: New Blood is the name of the reboot film which The Iceman and Criminal helmer Ariel Vroman will direct from a script by Brooks McLaren, and as per the report, without Stallone’s presence.
While in the auspices of Carolco Pictures at the time, Stallone retained the character as an iconic figure in action movie history stemming from its debut in Ted Kotcheff’s 1982 adaptation of David Morell’s 1972 M. Evans publication of the same name. Following Carolco’s dissolve, rights to the film went from Miramax/Dimension to Nu Image/Millenium where Stallone would ultimately helm and star in the 2008 independent production and release of Rambo as his final bow.

There’s no word yet on the status of the aforementioned TV show while the new reboot film is in early stages with story and casting details to be ironed out in due time.
