BOGOTA: CITY OF THE LOST Trailer Revealed Ahead Of Busan World Premiere
If there were ever a director who’s seen their share of heavy lifting, it would be Kim Seong-je whos newest crime noir, Bogota: City Of The Lost, now has a trailer to warrant some attention. Filming in 2020 was stifled by the Covid-19 pandemic until it finally wrapped photography the following summer, and is now poised for its World Premiere at the 29th edition of the Busan International Film Festival later this week.
BIFF programmer Song Kyung-won has more:
From the deepest depths to the highest heights, a tumultuous life unfolds in this film. After their family business collapses due to the IMF crisis, Guk-hui (Song Joong-ki) and his family flee Korea and arrive in Bogotá, Colombia. What they initially thought would be a temporary stay turns into a permanent settlement after they are robbed of all their belongings upon arriving at the airport. At 19, Guk-hui is determined to return to Korea, working tirelessly but the more he struggles the more he finds himself sinking deeper into inescapable mire. As he assists with smuggling operations, Guk-hui builds his standing in the black market, but the dangers only grow as he climbs higher. The story of those who had to do anything to survive in a foreign land intriguingly evolves into a sleek crime drama. Particularly noteworthy is Song Joong-ki’s seasoned performance, expressing the weight of a life on the edge which adds depth to the film, following his roles in Hopeless (2023) and My Name is Loh Kiwan (2024).
