It’s been about four months since Danny Boyle was announced to helm the 25th installment of the 007 franchise. With his departure last month since then left the search for another in his place as EON Productions and MGM paired with Universal for its previous release on November 8, 2019.

That date has now been reset for February 14, 2020 with production moved back from this December to a March start date with Beasts Of No Nation and True Detective – Season One and Netflix series Maniac helmer Cary Fukunaga set to direct. With the production delay in place, the move coincides with actor Daniel Craig’s current starring role slated for Rian Johnson’s new whodunit thriller production, Knives Out before Craig takes the mantle for a fifth outing as title character, James Bond.

Martin Campbell and Sam Mendes share their respective directing credits for Craig since the Bond franchise reboot of Casino Royale (2006), followed by Quantum Of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). The franchise stems from author Ian Fleming’s longstanding brainchild with a franchise weighing near $7 billion dollars from 24 titles thusfar since Sean Connery paved the way in Terence Young’s Dr. No (1962).

Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producing with 007 regulars Neal Purvis and Robert Wade sitting in for Boyle’s Trainspotting cohort John Hodge. Purvis and Wade have been with the spy franchise since Pierce Brosnan’s last two stints preceding Craig in The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day.

The producers via social media added following:

“We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure,”.
