If there were any indication that a Bollywood remake of a Hollywood picture wouldn’t do justice, of course opinions may still vary. Keep in mind though that the latest trailer for director Karan Malhotra‘s Brothers, the newest remake of the 2011 mixed martial arts drama, Warrior, just arrived this week and definitely appears to carry its own weight as it flexes its best muscle yet, with some seemingly promising fight sequences designed by a team of stellar stunt imports led by stunt coordinator Justin Yu.
Actor Sidharth Malhotra and well-known local favorite, action star Akshay Kumar take the lead the from a script by Ekta Malhotra that pits two brothers on opposite ends of an internal family feud that ultimately pits the two against each other in a mixed martial arts tournament with a grand money prize at stake. Also joining the cast are Kick co-star, actress Jacqueline Fernandes and Bollywood action veteran and co-star Jackie Shroff in the grisled role of the father caught at the center of the upheaval.
Edemol India is producing the remake under their Eyedentity Motion Pictures banner alongside the original film’s producers over at Lionsgate with Dharma Productions co-producing for a theatrical domestic release on August 14. Any overseas releases are a mystery at the moment, but do check out the trailer below!
