BLAQUE RAIN: R4 Films And VCB Collaborating For U.S./Mexico Action Thriller Filming In 2026

R4 Films LLC and Tijuana/Baja-based VCB Films are in development with an independent action thriller inspired by Ridley Scott’s 1989 crime classic, Black Rain. Founding R4 creative Robert Samuels is currently aiming to direct from a script by producing partner Robert Jefferson whose in-progress draft could finish by month’s end. The project, currently titled Blaque Rain, reteams the indie labels once again following shortfilm concepts such as Samuels and Jefferson’s “Blackout,” and Nicholas Ortiz’s “Jugando Con Fuego.” The plan is to crowdfund ahead of principal photography in 2026. “We’ll once again be tapping the rich filming environment provided by the Mexican landscape and partnering with VCB and producer/fight choreographer Angel G. WMAC MASTERS RETURNS: Casting Begins For The Hit 90s Martial Arts TV Revamp

Casting is now underway for a reboot of the hit 90s TV show, WMAC Masters. The project, which celebrates the show’s 30th anniversary, is still in early development with James Sang Lee (Mortal Kombat: Conquest, Plane) and WMAC Masters veteran Carmichael “Kid Carmichael” Simon (“Red vs. Blue,” “RWBY”) executive producing for Cannon Entertainment Group. The update is the latest in a series of steps for development of the show with a new merchandising endeavor underway over at Kickstarter shepherded by SMAT Designs, whose Scott Manthey is also an exec producer. Kristopher Landis, author of the 2022 paperback, “Quest for the Dragon Star: An Oral History of WMAC Masters,” is penning the series. RAMBO: Millenium Media Eyes Prequel With ‘Sisu’ Director

Yup. Rambo’s coming back… Word has it that Millenium Media is revamping the IP for a new origin story set during the Vietnam War with none other than Jalmari Helander directing the film. The company is also eyeing a production start in October over in Thailand. Helander will direct from a screenplay by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (Black Adam), with the film billed as a prequel to Ted Kotcheff’s inaugural 1982 film, First Blood, based on David Morell’s 1972 Rowman & Littlefield book. Kevin King-Templeton will produce for Templeton Media alongside Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger and Avi Lerner. Exec producing are Trevor Short, and Bonfire Legends’ Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk. The news comes courtesy of Deadline’s Andreas Wiseman who also notes that Sylvester Stallone is well aware of the project and is currently not involved.
