Former Marvel/Netflix Shows Relocate As Disney+ Antes Up Its Programming

Following the announced removal of several Marvel/Disney shows from Netflix last month, Disney+ is affirming is committment to its line-up as of Tuesday, bringing “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage”, “Iron Fist”, “The Defenders” and “The Punisher” to its platform beginning March 16. The move also includes all seven seasons of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” which initially enjoyed a seven-year run on ABC following its Fall 2013 premiere. The news also brings word of a change in operative use where all U.S. subscribers will be then prompted to set parental controls, using enhanced content ratings and PIN protection for all included profiles. “Those that choose to keep their settings the same will continue to enjoy Disney+ as they always have within a TV-14 content rating environment, with the option to make changes at any time under Profile settings.” says the streamer. You’re not alone if you’re like me and feel as if the next Deadpool movie couldn’t come fast enough. Actor Ryan Reynolds clearly hasn’t missed a step when it comes to delivering performances in physically demanding roles, which ought to spice things up for you in case you haven’t seen director Shawn Levy’s Free Guy yet. That one is now available on disc, digital and streaming where available, and come March 11, should make for a nice double feature alongside Netflix’s The Adam Project, also helmed by Levy. A time-traveling pilot teams up with his younger self and his late father to come to terms with his past while saving the future. Also starring are Jennifer Garner and Zoe Saldana, Mark Ruffalo and Walker Scobell.

Apple TV+ subs are welcome these days as the platform readies the new upcoming weekly eight-episode period drama, Pachinko, launching the first three epsiodes beginning March 25. Featuring across Korean, Japanese and English language, the show hails from creator Hugh Soo (The Terror, The Killing) and stars Yoon Yuh-jung (Minari), Lee Minho (Gangnam Blues), Jin Ha (Devs), and Kim Minha (After Spring). Not all the titles Netflix premieres on its platform gets a fair promo or even a spot on the Coming Soon list, which is a shame. With that said, Ricky Ko’s dark comedy crime thriller, Time, and Chan Kin Long’s celebrated feature debut, Hand Rolled Cigarette, would fair nicely as discoveries for just about anyone stumbling upon them. FISTFUL OF VENGEANCE Review: Netflix’s ‘Wu Assassins’ Sequel Feature Impresses Enough To Please The Fandom

Director Roel Reine’s latest return to martial arts and fantasy with Netflix’s Fistful Of Vengeance does a fine job of maintaining the same energy and flair of its preceding Wu Assassins series, and overall delivers largely on what fans can expect from a film headlined by Iko Uwais, an action star who broke ground more than ten years ago with some of the most elevated action cinema ever shot on camera. Reine continues a lot of that fanfare here, though lacking the same effect as its predecessors, but still bearing some fruit along the way. Western anime distributors Sentai have announced that they have acquired the exclusive license for Saiyuki RELOAD: ZEROIN, the latest installment in the long running franchise. The series is due to stream exclusively on the HIDIVE streaming platform for the Winter 2022 Simulcast season. A home video release is set to follow the simulcast run.
