The project, which celebrates the show’s 30th anniversary, is still in early development with James Sang Lee (Mortal Kombat: Conquest, Plane) and WMAC Masters veteran Carmichael “Kid Carmichael” Simon (“Red vs. Blue,” “RWBY”) executive producing for Cannon Entertainment Group. The update is the latest in a series of steps for development of the show with a new merchandising endeavor underway over at Kickstarter shepherded by SMAT Designs, whose Scott Manthey is also an exec producer. Kristopher Landis, author of the 2022 paperback, “Quest for the Dragon Star: An Oral History of WMAC Masters,” is penning the series. Kento Yamazaki is giving me life this year, personally. The man is a star of multiple franchises including the live-action Golden Kamuy film from director Shigeaki Kubo, as well as its sequel series which debuted last year on WOWOW… AND a feature film continuation as I reported last month. The first film streamed on Netflix and so I can only imagine the upcoming feature will arrive all the same in due time. Meanwhile, the WOWOW series that followed is happily being included in the streamer’s catalogue beginning February 6 with Golden Kamuy: The Hunt Of Prisoners In Hokkaido, with Yamazaki and actress Anna Yamada among the roster of new and returning cast. The intense scramble for the tattooed skins finally begins! The latest trailer introduces several new characters who join the series, which dives into the heart of the story. Live and shine in this thrilling survival battle for hidden […]
I’m as surprised as anyone that Netflix series Bloodhounds is getting a second season. I didn’t expect as much considering the story arc of the first season provided enough closure, but to see another round of action and drama well on the way is a nice little pick-me-up to start the new year. Jason Kim of Officer Black Belt fame is returning to the show, back at the helm as writer and director for a cast once again led by Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi, along with the new addition of recording artist Jung Ji-hoon – a.k.a. Rain (Ninja Assassin). Studio N is producing the series along with Seven O Six, and Ghost Studio, based on Jeong Chan’s hit webtoon of the same name. Read last week’s announcement below for more, and feel free to revisit my review of the first season here. The production and cast of Bloodhounds Season […]
It has been nearly six years since Marvel Television’s Netflix era of comic book superhero thrills, followed by Disney+’s acquisition of all present shows and subsequent phase-interwoven production thereafter. At long last, we now have Daredevil: Born Again, featuring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio returning in fine fashion following their respective cameos in “Hawkeye,” “She-Hulk,” and “Echo.” The official trailer is now here as well, which also includes appearances by returning actors Jon Bernthal and Wilson Bethel in the respective roles/alter-egos of Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Benjamin Pointdexter/Bullseye. Rounding out the cast are a mix of new and reuniting names including Elden Henson as Foggy, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen, and actors Margarita Levieva Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, and Ayelet Zurer. In Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities is fighting for justice […]
Director Alexandre Laurent’s eight-part live-action adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo’s manga caper classic, Cat’s Eyes, is already streaming exclusively on French streamer TF1 as of last month. To this, the series is also poised to launch on Amazon Prime in France and we now have an official trailer to help proliferate things a bit. Created by Michael Catz, Cat’s Eyes stars Camille Lou, Constance Labbé, and Claire Romain in an origin procession about three sisters who gather to steal high value art that once belonged to their presumed-late father. As they are pursued by a special task force, the trio also begin to uncover the mystery behind their father’s disapperance years earlier. Cat’s Eyes marks its first treatment here in live action since debuting on the pages of Jump Comics in 1981. I know our own Mike Garcia is a fiend for Hojo’s work. He’s definitely more of a City Hunter […]
