TOKYO REVENGERS 2: BLOODY HALLOWEEN ARC: Tsutomu Hanabusa’s Live-Action Manga Sequel Teases Two-Part 2023 Blitz!

It was back in July when Warner Bros. Japan teased a sequel to Tsutomu Hanabusa’s hit adaptation of Ken Wakui’s gangbuster manga, Tokyo Revengers. As of Tuesday, the studio is staying steady with a brief, brand-new teaser signaling the sequel’s two-part 2023 rollout titled Tokyo Revengers 2: Bloody Halloween Arc, with the first part set to arrive in Spring titled “Fate” and the second being “Decisive Battle” by the Summer. Saiji Yakumo’s latest efforts now turn toward Tougen Ranbu The Movie: Reimei (Dawn), the sequel to his period sword-clashing 2019 adaptation of DMM Games’ collectible card game. The primary cast from the first film is all returning to the new installment from a script this time by Hideyuki Kobashi and Jin Haganeya, and with a launch teaser online as of about a week ago to help set the mood. The first official teaser footage for Michael Chiang’s Wolf Pack is online ahead of its September 9 theatrical release. The film’s arrival comes just in time for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival premiere, which runs from September 10 through 12. Wolf Pack stars Max Zhang as the leader of an elite team charged with protecting China’s energy lifeline from a terrorist attack. The film also stars Aarif Lee and Jiang Luxia among others.

Three years after the sucessful rollout of Gundala, Joko Anwar’s inaugural superhero entry of the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe now has a follow-up in Upi Avianto’s own incarnation of superheroine staple, Sri Asih, which now delivers us a spectacular first teaser featuring actress Pevita Pearce in the title role. Hailing from Screenplay Films and Bumilangit Studios for its big screen release, the trailblazing superhero property was first birthed in 1954 from creator R.A. Director Keishi Ohtomo of Rurouni Kenshin franchise fame is back with The Legend & Butterfly, starring Takuya Kimura (Blade Of The Immortal) and Haruka Ayase (Caution, Hazardous Wife: The Movie). Written by Ryota Ozawa (The Confidence Man: JP trilogy, Parasyte Part 1 & 2), the 16th century period epic tells of nefarious warlord Nobunaga Oda, his dissenting relationship with wife Nohime following their arranged marriage, and the synergy that ensued as war strategists in the face of a pending attack by Nobunaga’s rival, Imagawa Yoshimoto. The official teaser is now online following press events in the past week with teaser poster reveals as of last month, and with post-production currently underway just as Ohtomo readies to serve as competition juror this October for the 16th Tanabe Benkei Film Festival.
