For many years we have received a mixed bag of Jackie Chan films often missing the mark when it comes to the fight action that his fans crave. In recent outings the over use of CGI and latest technology in his films hasn’t satisfied the audience’s pallet however in his latest feature “The Shadow’s Edge” Jackie has delivered on every level. I haven’t posted about Kyle Murillo in a while. Alas, we have Doll Face, a four minute detective procedural featuring website favorite Caitlin Hutson squaring off with Devante Thomas. In search of evidence for her recent missing person case, Detective Jane enters the home of a prime suspect after hours. It feels mighty good to hear from Murillo again. I may not have The Hit List anymore, but if I can spotlight these shorts from time to time, you can bet I will. Enjoy!

“The Guyver Unit. It’s been a year since the alien armor invaded my body and became a part of me. A year since I first became the Guyver and destroyed the Chronos Corporation and their shape changing killers, the Zoanoids. Now Chronos is gone. But the Guyver stays in me. Calling me to fight. To kill.”
I miss The Hit List, so I got up the motivation over the weekend to sift for some stunt reels. I found 50. 🙌🏽
Sam Firstenberg’s 1992 action thriller, American Samurai was another one of those commercial TV finds for me growing up. The film stars David Bradley in the role of Drew, a journalist whose investigation into a drug-smuggling lands him in the crosshairs of a criminal organization, and its deadly fighting tournament where he’ll be forced to square off with long lost stepbrother-turned-yakuza, Kenjiro, played by Mark Dacascos. Firstenberg comes from a crop of filmmakers who laid the groundwork for a raft of hit titles out of the Cannon label in the 1980s and onward. American Samurai was no different, save for more persnickety critics who lambasted the film, and even the director who spent a year in recent history collaborating with filmmaker Lyle Goodwin to retouch and refurbish his tourno martial arts adventure into something more closer to his vision than that of what he deemed was studio interference. The new […]
