CHINESE HERCULES Documentary: Bolo Says ‘Not Approved’
Action star and martial arts mainstay Bolo Yeung (Double Impact, Bloodsport, Enter The Dragon) is the center of what has now been deemed an unauthorized documentary according to a statement on the actor’s Instagram page. The statement comes following the release of a trailer promoting the documentary “Chinese Hercules: The Bolo Yeung Story”, a product of Hussar Productions directed by Pavel Nyziak, and produced by Nyziak along with Dan Delts, Aziz Cem, and Dr. Bob Goldman.
“I am incredibly grateful to have such a loyal and supportive fanbase. However, I want to make it clear that I did not give permission to Hussar Entertainment Productions-or any other party-to create or release any documentary about me, including the recent trailer for Chinese Hercules that was made available online on December 8, 2024,” said the post. “I deeply value my privacy and personal narrative, and I am actively addressing this situation to ensure that my rights and story are respected moving forward.”
The trailer, which has since been taken offline, featured a three-minute promo with speaking segments by a plethora of the martial arts genre’s screen favorites like Jean-Claude Van Damme, Cynthia Rothrock, Matthias Hues, John Salvitti, and more. Our own Mike Garcia caught the trailer a few days after it went online on other websites catered to martial arts film fans.
On December 19, one of Yeung’s sons, actor and body builder David Yeung, took to his own platform in a public post discussing his father and reports of the documentary, writing “I have consistently maintained that social media and online platforms are not credible sources of accurate information regarding his personal life and identity. Certain details are either missing or incorrect. The truth can only be verified through his immediate family. Please respect our privacy, as that is all that truly matters.”
Nyziak’s credits include 2014 action drama, Brotherhood as associate producer, and as exec producer on Salamat Mukhammed-Ali’s 2015 action crime thriller, Diamond Cartel in which the screen legend himself also appeared.
There aren’t any updates yet on when any documentary or project pertaining to Yeung’s life will surface. Certainly, we hope to see an official announcement in due time, be it the trades or Yeung’s platform, in which case I’d consider clicking the embed below and hitting the Follow button.
