CROSS BITE: Rissy Dollins Whips The Old West Into Shape In The Official Trailer For Her Debut Western Revenge Thriller
Folks who regularly kept up with my weekly heyday installments of The Hit List might remember the name Rissy Dollins popping up on occasion. Nowadays you’ll find her etching her way from stunt work and well into the director’s chair having long since got the ball rolling on Cross Bite, a new Western revenge thriller which Collins spent decades conceiving and eventually putting pen to paper on, before finally bringing her ideas to the set roughly six months ago.
Cross Bite is a western adventure story in the tradition of Tombstone and the Deadwood series. When weapons trickster Jed and timid Teddy set out to join Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, the notorious Durango Diamondback Gang blurs the line between virtue and vengeance.
The official trailer is now live for the upcoming Western which has its own YouTube channel, where Collins has been chronicling the film’s production process since last year. She also shares cast introductions and clips from the film, and dives more into the film’s origins, as well as her perspectives and motivations in terms of elevating the Western genre.
“I just wanted a story that didn’t ride the coattails of the typical elements of sexism, racism, and homophobia that we so often see in western films,” said Dollins in a statement last summer.
“While I recognize that there’s historical accuracy to those elements, I wanted a story that brough modern-day ideals of acceptance and diversity into the grit of the Old West, without ever needing to address those things through conflict, plot lines or dialogue.”
Cross Bite joins Dollins on screen along with Luke Baxter, RC Ormond, Landon Lopez, Brian Jerz, Bryan Mcgowan, Aolani Kilpatrick, Shannon Fitzpatrick, Brandon Wang, Rich Warren and Samantha Rubin. Dollins also serves as producer next to Dan Zealand, and Jen Zealand.
