DOCTOR STRANGE Casts Martial Arts Action Star Scott Adkins

Currently the action fanbase is already aware of action star Scott Adkins‘s latest stint in Roel Reine’s Hard Target 2 over in Thailand. Consider it to be one of many, MANY steps taken for the cult action hero in the hopes of landing bigger roles, and none of it is all for naught as Adkins may have just landed something much grander in the process.

For this, we check over on things at The Wrap with news of Adkins‘s involvement in director Scott Derrickson‘s new movie, Doctor Strange, which is currently filming in Nepal. The Wrap reports that Adkins will play an undisclosed role yet one that will also harness his talents as a screenfighter with feats many films helmed by names like Isaac Florentine and Tsui Hark to name a few.
Based on the Marvel Comics franchise following its launch in 1963, Adkins will join lead actor Benedict Cumberbatch along with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams and Michael Stuhlbarg. The film will be based on the classic character by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1963, with Cumberbatch in the role of the brilliant neurosurgeon who becomes the “Sorcerer Supreme” following a deadly car accident which cripples his hands, sending him on a desperate search that would ultimately grant him the mystical, magical powers and martial arts skills necessary to protect Earth from the forces of evil.
Kevin Feige is producing with a script by Jon Sphaits for a November 4 release next year as per Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Also on deck for Adkins are appearances in William Kaufman’s Jarhead 3: The Siege in June, preceded by next month’s releases of Wych Kaosayananda’s Zero Tolerance and Isaac Florentine’s Close Range, Ariel Vromen’s Criminal and James Nunn’s Elminators followed by the Florentine’s upcoming franchise sequel, Boyka: Undisputed 4.
