DOCTOR STRANGE Recruits His Servant In Actor Benedict Wong

Netflix is probably the likely medium where people have grown fond of actor Benedict Wong as of late. Aside from starring in films like last year’s space epic The Martian and in Steven DeKnight’s Redemption with Jason Statham, the actor came to fruition in 2014 when he commanded the role of Kublai Khan in the hit series, Marco Polo.
Yes, it’s a good time to be Wong for the credit he’s gotten for that performance thusfar, and it’s continuing later this year with the current run of the One Hundred Eyes spin-off ahead of season two of the hit show. However, you can now chalk another to his credentials with word making the rounds of his addition to the cast of Scott Derrickson’s newest veture into Marvel territory, Doctor Strange, according to THR.
Wong, funny enough, will play “Wong” Strange’s sidekick who has been a Marvel staple since the 60’s. Wong is the descendant of a long line of Chinese Monks and is the first-born of Hamir the Hermit, dedicated from childhood to the teachings of the Ancient One as he learned martial arts, healing and all the essentials needed to serve a master sorceror.
Actor Wong joins Benedict Cumberbatch starring in the title role whose hands succumb to a deadly accident prior to seeking out a remedy and ultimately discovering the power of magic and alternate dimensions. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen and martial arts star Scott Adkins also star for the film’s November 4 release.
