DON Q: Catch The Trailer For The New Dark Mob Comedy Coming In November
Claudio Bellante’s new crime comedy, Don Q, is getting a digital release on November 1 from Archstone Entertainment. Four-time Emmy winning actor Armand Assante stars in the flick directed by Bellante who also wrote the film with Michael Domino.
A modern day spin on Miguel de Cervantes’ Don Quixote of La Mancha, but set in Little Italy, Don Q follows local resident Al Quinto who sees his beloved neighborhood rapidly changing. Al has not been handling the change well and soon succumbs to his delusional fantasies, assuming the identity of the heroic and chivalrous Don Q, an esteemed Mafia chieftain and protector of Little Italy, who will stop at nothing to see the old ways return. Out of sympathy, the locals play along with his delusions, but when his fantasies start to get him in trouble, his sister Antonia and a local priest are compelled to intervene to save him from himself, and the local mob from the wrath of Don Q.
Don Q has received numerous awards and accolades on the festival circuit, including Best Actor (Armand Assante) at CHELSEA FILM FESTIVAL, ‘Best Actor In A Feature Film’ (Armand Assante) and ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Feature’ (Saundra Santiago) at GARDEN STATE FILM FESTIVAL, ‘Best Narrative Feature’ at CHICAGO INDIE FILM AWARDS, BOSTON INDIE FILM AWARDS, and TOKYO CINEMA AWARDS, and ‘Best Composer’ at NEW YORK INDEPENDENT CINEMA AWARDS, WORLD FILM FESTIVAL IN CANNES, and ART FILM SPIRIT AWARDS to name a few.
Don Q also stars the film stars Saundra Santiago (Miamai Vice, Guiding Light), Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos, Goodfellas, Wu Tang: An American Saga), Chuck Zito (Homefront, Carlito’s Way, The Rock), and Federico Castelluccio (The Sopranos, The Brooklyn Banker, el Cantante), with music by Jeremy Adelman. .
