Dwayne Johnson Boards Jay Longino's SON OF SHAOLIN As Producer For Sony

Well, he’s set to play Black Adam in Shazam, he’s set to play Doc Savage, he’s set to tackle monsters, ancient underground wizards, earthquakes, footballers, sun and sand in several other properties, and he’s even taking on digital media as we speak. Thus, it begs wondering just when exactly Dwayne Johnson will give himself a break, and apparently, like the proper bankable action hero he is, he’s far from done.

As we speak, Johnson is set to produce and possibly appear in an adaptation of the forthcoming graphic novel publication, Son Of Shaolin. Deadline reports that Sony Pictures acquired the rights to the feature pitch inspired by the novel written by Jay Longino. Plot details are nil at the moment but the report maintains the film will host a modern day Kung Fu story that mingles Shaolin mythology with contemporary issues faced by teens today.
Johnson and the lot at Seven Bucks Productions will produce from a script by Longino, who will executive produce with the Carolina Panthers’s center Ryan Kalil who himself funded the graphic novel through his own company, Strange Turn Entertainment which launched six years ago; Longino recently co-wrote Renny Harlin’s upcoming globetrotting action comedy, Skiptrace which opens this Fall in the U.S..
The report also cites that Johnson who also has The Janson Directive and F. Gary Gray’s Fast 8 in the mix for Universal, may also have a place in the roster for their currently-developing cinematic monsterverse pic, The Wolf Man. I guess it’s safe to say Johnson will pretty much be in everything. I say just make it happen. Put him in everything and the rest of us can all go home! What say you all?
