Dwayne Johnson Confirms THE JANSON DIRECTIVE, Tweets Screenwriter

It’s considerably awesome seeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson become one of the most entertaining and bankable actors working in film these days. The Mummy Returns, The Scorpion King, and The Rundown were a huge jumpstart for the former wrestler whose move into film has since brought him in the throes of some of the biggest franchises to to date, including The Fast And The Furious saga and the G.I. Joe movies.

Despite his flexible willingness as an actor, he’s particularly one that anyone would look forward to seeing in an action-packed story. Well, Universal Pictures announed its readiness to answer the call back in June when it was reported that Johnson was up for the lead role in new espionage thriller, The Janson Directive, based on the work of Jason Bourne author and creator, the late Robert Ludlum. This week however, the hulking actor took to Twitter to confirm his involvement in addition with that of screenwriter, Akiva Goldsman.
The Oscar-winning writer whose works also include Cinderella Man, I, Robot, I Am Legend and the current production of the second in the Divergent trilogy, Insurgent, will be adapting the potential franchise upstarter based on Ludlum’s series which centers on Paul Jason, a covert ops agency legend, forced into an epic cat-and-mouse chess game when he himself becomes a “beyond salvage” death target of the highest level of government following the fumbled rescue mission of billionaire philanthropist, Peter Novak at the hands of the mysterious terrorist, The Caliph. Goldsman was recently tapped to executive produce, as well as script TNT’s upcoming pilot order for DC Comics property, Titans, with fellow scribe and co-executive producer, Marc Haimes.

Johnson is also on board to produce The Janson Directive. In the meantime, the actor will also be making his next appearance in the upcoming Fast And Furious 7 on April 3, 2015, as well as the forthcoming disaster epic, San Andreas, next year.

Stay tuned for more info.
