Dwayne Johnson Inferno Thriller, SKYSCRAPER, Heats Up Next Summer For Universal/Legendary

Moviegoers are just one month away from the release of Dwayne Johnson’s appearance in Universal Pictures’s The Fate Of The Furious. It’s one of many titles on deck for the actor who has been staying amply busy in the past several years staking his claim in many projects on both the big and small screen, and even on the web.

Films such as Jumanji, Baywaytch, game adaptaion Rampage, a sequel to San Andreas and even DCU adaptations with Black Adam and Shazam are currently in the works for the actor whose performance next to Kevin Hart in Rawson Marshall Thurber’s Central Intelligence helped rake in up to $217 million dollars at the box office. As such, you can add a second offering this week from both star and director in lieu of Universal’s latest package with Legendary Pictures for the new survival thriller, Skyscraper.
Following its announcement last summer, Thurber will write and direct the film which casts Dwayne Johnson as Will Ford, a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Ford, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. When Ford assigned to assess the world’s tallest, safest building in China, he is subsequently framed for setting it ablaze and forced on the run while saving his trapped family.
Beau Flynn is producing with Johnson and Thurber with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia executive producing and Wendy Jacobson co-producing for its July 13, 2018 release. Johnson’s HBO series, Ballers, premieres this summer on July 23 at 10:00pm EST.
