Director Ranjeet S. Marwa’s newest thriller, Exiled: The Chosen Ones, remains in post-production with the team going over pages of notes of what to include and so forth. All hints at a release are tentatively looking toward Spring or the Summer depending on how things fluctuate, while Marwa continues to build his repertoire a bit for the 2021 seasons.

He’s currently developing a new romantic drama which he’ll announce soon, and he’s also prepping a few more projects to round out the year, namely with Sunny Pang hitman thriller, Blind Rage. In the midst of all this though, it hasn’t hindered him, or his team any, from procuring any notions about a sequel to the aforementioned survival thriller, which wrapped additional photography in recent weeks.

“The buzz around Exiled has been great so far.” says Marwa, who almost three weeks ago from this report, Marwa announced on The Movie Dojo that development on a sequel to Exiled had been greenlit with the intent on casting Zack Lee (Headshot, The Night Comes For Us, Gundala). Furthermore, a few days after teasing Lee’s character a little bit on Instagram, Marwa is also confirming the official title of the impeding sequel.

“I can confirm the next chapter will be Exiled 2: Beyond The Badlands.” Marwa tells FCSyndicate. “I am hoping to expand the universe with a potential trilogy of movies. Djonny [Chen] of Silent D Pictures and the other producers believe that the first film in this action franchise will do well both theatrically and on digital platforms.”.

In Marwa’s Exiled: The Chosen Ones, the “Badlands” serve as the enclosed killing ground where the action takes place, pitting Singaporean actor Sunny Pang (Headshot) against a row of bloodthirsty killers in a game that serves to benefit the rich, and supplement an earlier, failed global population control scheme.

Details are scarce on just what kind of character Lee will play. Needless to say, it’s the latest sign of Marwa’s excitement in working with Lee ever since their mission together began with campaigning for action thriller, Blood Rush.

“We have an amazing cast in the first movie, and I am getting together an even more amazing cast for the second one, which is why I decided to cast Zack.” says Marwa, who also insists that the Headshot and The Raid 2 co-star remains his first and only choice for Blood Rush.

“I still plan to film Blood Rush with Zack, and this should speaks invariably to my faith in adding him to our Exiled sequel.” Marwa adds. “He’s not only talented, but I know what he can bring to the role, as well as to an expanded universe. Zack has never, ever done this type of role, which is why I’m so looking forward to having him be a part of this universe, and giving viewers a taste of what’s to come in the first film.”

Exiled: The Chosen Ones also stars Hannah Al-Rashid, Oka Antara, Nisaro Karim, James Jay Bryhan and Nick Khan.
