FORTITUDE: Nicolas Cage Shakes Up Simon West’s New WWII Espionage Ensemble In The First Trailer

Simon West is back, and with none other than Nicolas Cage long since years since Con Air with World War II spy flick, Fortitude. West directs from a script by Simon Afram for a cast led primarily by Matthew Goode and Ed Skrein who play a pair of spy-soldiers working an intricate mission to mislead the Third Reich and take out the Axis Of Evil.

The cast also lists Jordi Mollà, Alice Eve, Art Malik, Lukas Haas, Adrian Topol, Emilio Sakraya, Maeve Courtier-Lilley, Paul Anderson, with Ben Kingsley and Michael Sheen bookending the roster. Of course, not to be outdone is Cage himself, putting on his best nod yet to a certain IP, and in a trailer clearly tipping its hat throughout the footage.

FORTITUDE is based on an incredible true story and follows the fearless and unpredictable spy-soldiers Dudley Clarke (Skrein) and Thomas Argyll “TAR” Robertson (Goode), as they devise the biggest deception mission ever mounted. With the support of Winston Churchill (Sheen), Ian Fleming (Malik) and an extraordinary network of double agents, among them Dusko Popov (Cage), the real-life spy who inspired the James Bond novels, Juan Pujol (Mollà), a Spanish chicken farmer, and Nancy Armstrong (Eve), a top British Intelligence agent, they create a spectacular master plan using a fictitious army, fake tanks, aircraft and ships, actors and false radio messages to fool Hitler’s Nazi Army in the build-up to D-Day. Operation FORTITUDE decisively changed the course of World War II and paved the way for a free world.

West directs from a script by Simon Afram who is also producing. A release date remains pending, while the trailer is now available in the link below for your consumption. Cheers!
