GARO: TAIGA (ELITE EDITION) Suits Up On 4K UHD And Blu-Ray This Year From Media Blasters!
Media Blasters is putting out the word this week with the announcement of Garo: Taiga, coming to limited edition 4K UHD and Blu-Ray in seperate editions. Keita Amemiya directs this, the latest installment of the Garo franchise on the film end of things, in a celebrated Tokusatsu IP that dates back to 2006.
A date remains pending and the main page for the Media Blasters website is a bit teetering, but the label’s online store is in good form both here and here, and your best bet to follow up for more release info are their socials on Facebook and Instagram. The plan is to release a thousand units for each format to be made available later this year.
In the meantime, read on and make your pre-orders, and feel free to peep my review from the film’s Fantasia screening last year.
GARO: TAIGA- A theatrical prequel film commemorating the 20th anniversary of the GARO franchise.
Lurking among us are the Horrors, ancient enemies of our kind, hailing from another realm. Holding the line against them, down through the ages, are the Makai Knights. Across generations, the men of the Saejima family have assumed a ferocious lupine aspect and magical armour of Golden Knight Garo—Raiga, before him Kouga, and before him Taiga, whose spirit has watched over his descendants. Little of Taiga’s tale has been revealed—until now. A new adventure harkens back to Taiga’s tenure as Garo, recalling his childhood training, his dedicated pursuit of his demonic foes, and the challenge he faces when a sacred artifact containing the souls of four elemental guardian spirits is stolen by Jado, a powerful Horror, who plans to unleash legions of evil into our world. (102 minutes) Stars Rika Shashima, Shoichiro Kitada, Kazuki Namioki, Toshiki Seto. Written and directed by Keita Amemiya.
Direct sales of GARO: TAIGA (ELITE EDITION) will be available for a limited time in two configurations. For the UHD 4K edition, the MEGA BUNDLE will include a slipcase and exclusive supplementary materials including an audio commentary track, newly produced video content and a printed booklet produced by Matt Burkett and the team behind our stunning Kamen Rider extras and folded poster.
