GAYONG 2 Teaser: Beto Kusyairy’s Martial Arts Hero Lays Down The Law!
It had already been clear from jump that the filmmakers behind Faisal Ishak’s filmic endeavor, Gayong, would set out to match its Ip Man-sized ambitions. To date, that goal is being put in motion since the film’s release in Malaysia back in May; its regional holiday re-release in August also included director’s cut presentations, as well as previews of its sequel, Gayong 2.
Thus, prompting Friday’s post here is the first teaser trailer for the new chapter since principal photography commenced last summer. Leading man Beto Kusyairy reprises the title role once more for the franchise which chronicles the life and times of Silat Gayong founder, Datuk Meor Abdul Rahman, with Kusyairy lending a performance that amply compliments his nearly two decade-long acting career.
There aren’t any plot details but the English subs and visuals do allow some clarity which brings insight to our hero’s voyage against corruption, and time-honored genre tropes like pitting martial arts willpower against firearms, and Kusyairy’s character holding his own against all odds.
Invariably, the first film has yet to make it here to the states, but you can believe I’ll be among the audience catching it first chance I get. In the meantime, Gayong 2 remains pending for a date while the trailer lends more than enough to keep fans enticed. Not to mention Kusyairy’s upcoming appearance in Areel Abu Bakar’s Geran prequel, Abang, should contribute something extra exciting to the 2026 action film landscape.
