GAYONG: Malaysia’s Answer To ‘Ip Man’ Gets An Epic Teaser For The New Martial Arts Biopic
With the proliferation of Southeast Asian action films in the last fifteen years, I sincerely hope Malaysia never loses its stride. Why? Because I’ve been a Beto Kusyairy fan ever since his co-starring role in Mat Kilau, and now we get to see the actor back in action with Malaysian martial arts bio pic, Gayong.
Juvana franchise steward Faisal Ishak directs from a script by Naza Manas for Kusyairy in the role of Dato’ Meor Abd Rahman, grandmaster and founder of Silat Gayong Malaysia. The martial arts master was also the first Malay to become a British combat instructor in 1939 – something SOL Pictures Sdn Bhd pointed out upon announcement of the film last September.
Gayong also actress Nabila Huda, and actor Mohd Syafie Naswip, along with Indonesian action star Yayan Ruhian and Thai stunt performer Chevanon Phukaokaew, and features action sequences by Ruhian as well. Check out the teaser below!
