Get A First Look At Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson As HERCULES!

2014 is giving filmgoers at least two Hercules movies this year. And with the first having already made the rounds courtesy of actor Kellan Lutz in The Legend Of Hercules, fans can now gather round for the latest, slightly scruffier, more meatier image below of actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the titular character in director Brett Ratner‘s own spin on the classic mythological character, Hercules.

Take a look:

SYNOPSIS:

Based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars, the ensemble-action film is a revisionist take on the classic myth set in a grounded world where the supernatural does not exist. The screenplay is by Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos.

Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend…

Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary.  Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies.  But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.

The image isn’t the first we’ve seen from the set with all the other previous photos the actor shared between other photos details of the unique eight-month diet and workout routine he endured. However, it does offer more frontal coverage and should give fans a better idea of what we can expect as the film moves forward with promotional material, in which case, expect a trailer this week.
Johnson is joined by Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan and John Hurt, with Rebecca Ferguson, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Aksel Hennie and Reece Ritchie. Hercules bows July 25, 2014 courtesy of MGM and Paramount.
