HEADS OF STATE: Keep Calm And Catch The Trailer For The New Prime Video Action Adventure

I’m not sure what the point even is anymore if we’re just gonna meme everything, but I guess that’s trajectory Ilya Naishuller (Nobody, Hardcore Henry) is headed for these days. To this, we now get the official trailer for Heads Of State, written by Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec and Harrison Query.

We also get a reunion of The Suicide Squad cohorts Idris Elba and John Cena, this time in the respective roles of the UK Prime Minister and the ex-movie star-turned US President. The goal? The two must set aside their rivalry and work together to thwart a global conspiracy and save the world, after surviving an explosive assassination attempt…

That means a trailer in which we see both characters make absurd movie puns with the joke being that Cena’s character is a self-absorbed former movie star still hanging onto his nostalgia, with Elba’s role clearly more suited to whoop some ass from the start.

It’s all laughs and hard-hitting action to the tune of some Mötley Crüe and the trailer delivers the goods on these accounts, and we also get Priyanka Chopra Jonas throwing down as the ace-in-the-hole for our male leads. Rounding out the cast are Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, Richard Coyle and Paddy Considine, and at this rate, don’t be surprised if the script becomes the co-star at this point.
