HEADSHOT Goes For The Kill In The Brutal New Teaser Ahead Of Its TIFF Premiere!

Recent years have certainly seen promience within Indonesia’s film circles. It is of a slow but steady kind and due largely in part to the proliferation of its most notable player, Iko Uwais, undeniable in the work he’s put in to becoming a formidable, game-changing star, and he assuredly has changed it to some degree.

His screen caliber as a martial artist and actor have all but sharpened since debuting in the 2009 action drama, Merantau. Following that with crime hits The Raid and The Raid 2 and save for a few albeit minimal cameos in Man Of Tai Chi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there’s no question that there are, indeed, directors who know how to utilize Uwais’s skillset appropriately.
Thus, we now come to the latest work from Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel, the hit film duo behind the 2014 slasher, Killers. They’re back, and this time they’ve brought Uwais along for the ride, and in the company of a fine group of badasses stemming from Uwais’s filmography for the new action thriller, Headshot
Entertainment Weekly, who have the exclusive teaser posted to their page, offer more on the story details:

The film finds Uwais playing a nameless man who wakes up in a hospital with severe head trauma, not knowing who he is or what happened to him. Assisted by a student doctor Ailin (Chelsea Islan), who nicknames him “Ishmael” after the character in Moby Dick, he recovers and tries to regain his memory. But Ishmael’s past catches up to him, in the form of Lee (Sunny Pang), a drug lord and gang boss whose tentacles reach deep into the police and the penal system. When Ailin is kidnapped and Ishmael sets out to get her back, he finds himself pitted against an array of skilled fighters who may have been his former colleagues.

Sounds like fun times! The film will premiere at TIFF for the Midnight Madness line-up on September 9 and will continue to rollout in festivals until releasing wide between now and later this year through early 2017 in the U.S.. In the meantime, it’s safe to say that Uwais is back, and in great form with a number of titles to keep him busy from this point on with Tjahjanto’s The Night Comes For Us starring Joe Taslim, Liam O’Donnell’s Beyond Skyline, Peter Berg’s Mile 22 and Gary Mak’s currently-developing Expendables-style Asian ensemble, Makeshift Squad.
Put those titles in your memopad for future reference, and peer over below to watch the new teaser for Headshot which also joins Uwais with Julie Estelle, Very Tri Yulisman, David Hendrawan and Zack Lee.
