Well Go USA’s niche martial arts streamer, Hi-YAH!, is doling out another round of weekly titles this August with premiere dates also available.
Following announcements back in May, first up will be the August 5 release of Indonesian action crime thriller, Preman: Silent Fury, which now gets a public trailer debut after screening at Comic Con International last month. The film also releases on Digital, Blu-Ray and DVD on September 27 from Well Go USA, and stars Khiva Iskak as Sandi, a deaf gangster whose organization is on a campaign to run villagers out of town at the behest of a corrupt politician. When Sandi’s son bares witness to the murder of the village elder at the hands of his ruthless leader, Sandi is forced to protect his son at all costs. August 12 will see the English-sub/English-dub launch of Corey Yuen’s classic 1990 girls-with-guns cop thriller, She Shoots Straight. Featuring lead actress Joyce Godenzi, the film centers on Mina, a dedicated policewoman who weds her superintendent husband, essentially marrying into his family of cops. When her husband is murdered by a Vietnamese gang seeking retribution after a robbery gone awry, Mina and her in-laws must put aside their differences in order to take the gang down.
Paul Maslak directs from a script by Robert Easter, 1996 action thriller, Sworn To Justice, featuring martial arts star Cynthia Rothrock in her latest turn at the streamer following the addition of Hong Kong action classic, Righting Wrongs. Streaming August 19, Rothrock is joined by Kurt McKinney, Mako and Tony LoBianco in the story of a forensics psychologist and defense attorney who turns vigilante, using her tough-as-nails fighting skills and super-acute sense of touch to fight crime following the murder of her sister and nephew.
Legendary actor Kwan Tak-Hing remains unrivaled when it comes to the number of times he’s portrayed the role of celebrated folk hero, martial artist and healer Wong Fei-Hung. His 1974 incarnation comes by way of The Skyhawk from director Jeong Chang-hwa, which here sees our heroic shadowless kicker in the title role, visiting a friend in Bangkok only to go toe to toe with a deadly martial artist and an incorrigible boss making trouble for a labor leader at a local factory. The film launches August 26 in English dub and with English subs!
