Joel Kinnaman Is The Symbol Of Justice In The New Poster For ROBOCOP

The new poster for RoboCop has finally made its way online. The poster comes just a week after the new trailer debuted for the film. Take a look:

The latest reboot of classic action filmmaker, Paul Verhoeven‘s 1987 Orion Pictures release, Robocop, has been on a slowly growing viral campaign dating back to 2012 through its most recent launch of Omnicorp.com, the propaganda site on which the film’s narrative is originally based. As time went on though, Verhoeven fans were reminded of how much they prefer the classics, baulking at director Len Wiseman‘s attempt to reboot the 1990 film, Total Recall. But that didn’t stop Elite Squad helmer Josè Padilha from taking the reigns and turning a once R-rated gem into a PG-13/12A headline making reboot for its then-summer 2013 release.
I eventually went on a minor twitter tirade criticizing director Padilha’s “Robocop vs. Batman” reasoning behind going for a larger audience with a kid-friendly approach, stating that there isn’t a comparison here between the two completely different franchises. To be fair though, San Diego Comic Con attendees got to learn a few extra facts about the reboot, in addition to seeing the first teaser footage which was, in part, pretty well-received, along with reporters over at IGN who described the footage as “decent”.
So, duly noted, I’ll be seeing the film to substantiate my opinion on it. I still say that an R-to-PG 13 vision is a stretch.

Robocop stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle and Marianne Jean-Baptiste, and is slated for release on February 7, 2014, courtesy of Sony and MGM.
