JOHN RAMBO: Cameras Roll For Action Franchise Prequel Starring Noah Centineo
Cameras are now rolling for John Rambo, starring Noah Centineo (upcoming Street Fighter) and directed by Jalmari Helander (Sisu, Sisu: Road to Revenge) for Lionsgate. Production is underway in Bangkok, Thailand in the latest addition to the franchise that began with Ted Kotcheff’s inaugural 1982 film, “First Blood,” based on David Morell’s 1972 Rowman & Littlefield book.
Helander directs from a screenplay by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (Black Adam, The Mauritanian). Kevin King Templeton and Les Weldon (Rambo & Expendables franchises), are producing next to Jonathan Yunger (Rambo: Last Blood, Expend4bles) for Millennium Media, and Michael Disco (San Andreas, Rampage) and Angela Russo-Otstot (Extraction, The Gray Man) for AGBO. Anthony & Joe Russo (Avengers, Captain America) are exec producing with Trevor Short (Expendables franchise) for Millennium Media, Dallas Sonnier (Bone Tomahawk, The Pendragon Cycle: Rise of the Merlin) and Amanda Presmyk (Dragged Across Concrete, Run Hide Fight) for Bonfire Legend.
Per the announcement: “John Rambo takes audiences back, years before the events of First Blood, diving deep into the roots and experiences that forged one of the big screen’s most enduring and complex characters.”
Rounding out the ensemble cast are yao (Sinners), Jason Tobin (“A Thousand Blows”), Quincy Isaiah (“Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty”), Jefferson White (“Yellowstone”), and Tayme Thapthimthong (“The White Lotus”).
The studio also revealed a few new graphics to mark the occasion, including a hand holding the titular character’s dogtags, and a statement from the director. Check those out in the gallery below!
