JOHNNY Z: Martial Arts Master VS. The Undead In The Official Trailer

It was about a year ago that we caught onto Jonathan Straiton’s crowdfunding efforts for original action horror feature, Johnny Z. Having reunited with cohorts from his 2016 horror romp, Night Of Something Strange, Johnny Z is finally on the way this week with Hurricane Bridge Entertainment and Black Mandala hailing the first official teaser ahead of a 2019 festival run and subsequent release.

Johnny Z is an action-horror feature film about a half human, half zombie named Johnny who’s blood holds the cure to the zombie epidemic. After escaping Nordac, an experimental medical prison, Johnny comes under the guidance of a martial arts Grandmaster named Jonray. Together they embark on a journey to find a missing doctor while battling their own personal demons.

Johnny Z demonstrates many different forms of martial arts and is Straiton’s first bilingual film where both the main actors speak English and Spanish. Action and horror of reanimated corpses, virally infected human beings, and exciting martial arts action all filmed in Central Virginia.

Michael Merchant (House Shark, Night of Something Strange) and celebrated international martial arts master, actor Felix Cortes (Netflix series Daredevil, upcoming Wonder Woman 1984) lead the cast along with Jason Delgado, David E. Mcmahon, Ellie Church, Wayne W. Johnson, and Trey Harrison.

The film is produced by Michael Kraetzer, Nicolás Onetti, Brie Straiton, Brett Janeski and Ryan Felker from a script by Ron Bonk (She Kills, House Shark), with Dylan Hintz (The Purge: Election Year, Banshee, Blindspot) serving as action designer and members of his DC-based DC Stunt Coalition providing key stunt performances, and Marcus Koch (We Are Still Here, American Guinea Pig Series) on special effects duty.

Pre-orders of the DVD and other Johnny Z merchandise can be found at the film’s Indiegogo on-demand site by clicking here.
