JUST PLAY DEAD: First Look At Martin Campbell’s New Thriller With Samuel L. Jackson and Eva Green
Production recently wrapped in the Canary Islands for Just Play Dead, a new thriller from director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, GoldenEye). A first look at the film is now online as well, featuring Academy Award-nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Universal Pictures’ Argylle, 20th Century Fox’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction), and Eva Green (Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, Warner Bros.’ 300: Rise Of An Empire).
In Just Play Dead, Jackson plays Jack Wolfe, a wealthy criminal mastermind and husband to wife Nora, played by Green. When Jack gets cornered by the Feds, he and his “grieving widow” plan to fake his death and claim a $30 million life insurance payout, while pinning his murder on Nora’s lover, Chad, played by Jason Fernandez. Little does Jack know, however, that Nora is cooking up a scheme of her own: kill Jack for real, frame Chad and keep the fortune for herself. As lies unravel, Nora and Jack scramble to outsmart one another, leaving one burning question: who will come out on top in this twisted game of life and death?
Also starring are Maria Pedraza (Netflix’s “Money Heist”), and Eoin Macken from a script by Dan Gordon (Lionsgate’s Rambo: Last Blood, Universal Pictures’ The Hurricane).
Head Gear Films’ Phil Hunt (A24’s Talk to Me, Focus Features’ Tar) is producing alongside Gemstone Films’ Valentin Dimitrov (Lionsgate’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard), Sagiv Diamant (Lionsgate’s We Die Young), Moshe Diamant (Martin Campbell’s The Protégé) and Gaby Whyte Hart.
Highland Film Group is on hand at the American Film Market selling to buyers and is representing the film internationally. CAA Media Finance is handling domestic.
