KARATE KID: LEGENDS Dons First Teaser Poster For The Sony Franchise Sequel
Marking the fifth film in the franchise is Karate Kid: Legends, as revealed by way of its recent NYCC goings on this week. The Sony Pictures release hails from director Jonathan Entwistle from a script by Rob Lieber, starring Disney+ series American Born Chinese star Ben Wang alongside franchise staples Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan.
Little is known about the plot which otherwise sees Wang in the role of “a young teenager from China who finds identity and strength in martial arts. During his journey of self-discovery, Wang’s character meets a disciplined martial arts master,” per JoBlo. The cast also lists Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, Wyatt Oleff, Aramis Knight, Sadie Stanley, and more for the film’s May 30, 2025 theatrical release.
The update comes a day following further casting news on the second half of sixth and final season of hit Karate Kid offshoot, Netflix series “Cobra Kai” which bows on the streamer in November, in which Macchio also stars alongside franchise staples William Zabka, and Yuji Okumoto.
