February is turning into an exciting month for action film fans next year. The Mo’ Bros’s latest, Headshot is being released in the U.S. by then, as is Lionsgate’s upcoming John Wick: Chapter Two which has a date stamped for February 10, 2017.
Keanu Reeves is back to lead the film cast with a mix of new and old faces, including fellow The Matrix Trilogy co-star Lawrence Fishburne for the continuing story of the ex-hitman who, in the 2014 film, raided the criminal auspices of his former employer whose son murdered his beloved dog handed to him by his late wife, played by actress Bridget Moynahan who also returns in the sequel.
The first film, written by Derek Kolstad, marked a resurgence for Reeves as the film was a low-budget affair for helmer Chad Stahelski and co-director/producer David Leitch, both hailing from prolific career histories as Hollywood stuntmen, second unit directors and stunt coordinators. Earning to the tune of almost $90 million dollars certainly helped the cause for a sequel, and so with the days now counting down until New York Comic Con, Lionsgate has intoduced the first teaser poster which you can view below, along with a graphic annoucing the first footage to premiere at Comic Con with select cast and crew on hand!
Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers. Lionsgate’s “John Wick: Chapter 2” arriving in theaters on February 10, 2017.
