It’s taken a bit of time to come to, but the long-awaited U.S. release of Jeffrey Lau’s martial arts ensemble romp, Kung Fu League is officially gearing up for a Blu-ray Combo, DVD and Digital release on September 17 from Well Go USA. To update, we also have an official trailer now up and running since this article was published five days ago.
Dennis To reprises his TV title performance from the ancillary feature, Ip Man: The Legend Is Born while Vincent Zhao returns in robe and queue as Wong Fei-Hung, Andy On steps up as Huo Yuanjia and Danny Chan relitigates the posterity of famed Bruce Lee persona, Chen Zhen.
Leading the narrative is actor Ashin in a debut role as a shy man who summons the four legendary kung fu masters to help him fight for the woman he loves when his manager prevents him from ever reaching her. Actor Jay Chou (The Green Hornet) also makes an appearance.
Lau is currently the subject of another forthcoming Well Go USA release coming in due time as well – formal announcements pending, of course – and you can bet it’ll surely join the ranks of The Brink and other titles hitting disc releases and/or streaming on Hi-YAH very soon.
